Which keys save homework in one breath?

# Keyboard power skills Your keyboard is a superpower if you learn a few keys. ## Must-know keys - **Enter** — new line / confirm - **Backspace** — delete behind the cursor - **Delete** — delete in front - **Shift** — capital letters and symbols - **Ctrl** (or Cmd on Mac) — shortcuts - **Tab** — jump to the next box - **Esc** — cancel / close a menu ## Shortcuts that save homework time - **Ctrl + C** copy · **Ctrl + V** paste · **Ctrl + X** cut - **Ctrl + Z** undo · **Ctrl + S** save - **Ctrl + A** select all · **Ctrl + F** find ## Touch typing Home row: `A S D F` and `J K L ;` Eyes on the screen, not the keys. Speed comes later. Accuracy first. > Save with Ctrl+S every few minutes. It is the cheapest insurance in school. ## A 7-shortcut kit (muscle memory) Practise this kit until your fingers know it without a poster: 1. **Save** Ctrl+S 2. **Undo** Ctrl+Z 3. **Copy** Ctrl+C 4. **Paste** Ctrl+V 5. **Cut** Ctrl+X 6. **Select all** Ctrl+A 7. **Find** Ctrl+F On a Mac, use **Cmd** instead of Ctrl for these. ### Home row Left hand: A S D F (index on F, the bump). Right hand: J K L ; (index on J, the bump). Thumbs share the space bar. Eyes stay on the screen. Type a sentence about your day every computer period — that is enough drill.

By the end of this lesson

Use Save, Undo, Copy/Paste, Select all and Find, and rest fingers on the home row.

Remember

Example 2 — Fix a mistake

You deleted a good sentence.
